Barnstaple – Braunton

This proposal is supported by the TawLink campaign, which has backed the development of electric trams on the corridor between Barnstaple and Braunton. It is unknown if an application has been made but the campaign group has reported that they have been encouraged by their local MP Selaine Saxby to apply for funding.


Bere Alston – Tavistock

Okehampton – Tavistock

Henbury Spur/Loop

Hythe – Totton (Waterside line)

This branchline in Hampshire connected Fawley oil terminal with the national rail network. The supporting MP is not known.

Shanklin – Ventnor (Isle of Wight)

Extend the Island line southwards towards Ventnor. Supported by Bob Seely MP.

Wooton – Newport (Isle of Wight)

Extend the Isle of Wight Steam Railway to the largest town on the island without a railway connection, Newport. Support by Bob Seely MP.

Lostwithiel – Fowey

Restoring passenger trains on the freight only line that currently serves Carne Point a few miles short of Fowey.

Newton Abbot – Bovey Tracey

Restore the railway line that ran to Heathfield and provide a service into Newton Abbot. Supported by Anne Marie Morris MP

  1. The situation regarding the lack of station serving Somerton and Langport is getting beyond a joke and dangerous! It’s the longest stretch of track without a Station between London and Penzance. Castle Cary is over-subscribed as a result and parking is now out of hand. I have to regularly drive my daughter to the station and collect her at the end of the day. A trip of 40miles twice a day. This unnecessary use of the public highway is exactly what public transportation should be preventing…
