Portishead DCO granted

The government has granted the Development Consent Order for the railway line serving Portishead enabling preparatory work to commence. Detailed design, ecology works and approval of the full business case will be the focus of the next 18 months, with construction expected to start in 2024. The funding gap was closed earlier this year.

Two new railway stations will join the rail network via an hourly service to Bristol Temple Meads.
