Nine schemes will share £15m of funding following the completion of an initial business case that was supported by RYR funding in the Ideas Fund. It was released alongside a programme update, which provided further information about applications.

- Ivanhoe Line between Leicester and Burton on Trent
- Meir station in Staffordshire
- Haxby station in Yorkshire
- Devizes station in Wiltshire
- Ferryhill station in County Durham
- Aldridge station and line upgrade in Walsall
- Fleetwood line
- Mid Cornwall Metro scheme for services between Newquay and Falmouth
