More than 130,000 people travelled on the Elizabeth line within hours of opening on Tuesday 24 May, as people took the opportunity to experience the service in the central section for the first time. Four stations joined the national rail network as the first stage of opening kicked into gear.
The first stage of opening (through to Autumn 2022) will see trains operate between Paddington and Abbey Wood Monday-Saturday every 5 minutes. There will be planned closures on the Elizabeth line between Abbey Wood and Paddington on weekends of 11-12 June, 30-31 July and 29-30 October 2022.
From autumn 2022, services will be enhanced with trains operating between from Reading and Heathrow to Abbey Wood, and Shenfield to Paddington.
From May 2023, the full 24 train per hour service between Paddington and Whitechapel will commence.
Bond Street is expected to open later in 2022.
