Motion 4

Three new train stations in the Borough

Moved by Councillor Blundell, Seconded by Councillor O’Rourke

The council notes that many parts of our borough do not have good connections to the rail network. The council further notes that travel by rail is cleaner, cheaper, and faster than other methods of public transport. Therefore, council resolves that the Chief Executive to write to Transport for Greater Manchester and the Rochdale Stations Alliance asking for an investigation into creating three new stations at:

1) Belfield – crossroads with Albert Royds Street

2) Heywood Station – near to the ELR station and not in a way that interferes with the work of ELR

3) Slattocks.
