East West Rail plans challenged by stakeholders

Proposals by East West Rail to serve Cambridge have been challenged by stakeholders. The route being proposed is an approach from the south, which has been criticised for impacting too many communities because of the substantial infrastructure required.

Residents whose properties could be demolished have criticised the lack of engagement. Other have raised concerns that safe paths to local amenities could be closed forcing people to use dangerous road. A campaigner has raised concerns that the route is not being electrified from the outset.
