Rail Minister backs rail projects on visit to the North East

Chris Heaton-Harris has expressed interest and support in several proposals across the north east of England, which appear to have had bids submitted to the Restoring Your Railway – Ideas Fund.

On a visit to Wolsingham, discussions took place into plans to restore the Weardale Railway and a potential branch to serve Crook.

Visiting Gilsland, the Rail Minister was lobbied with regards to the opportunities that a railway station here on the Newcastle-Carlisle line could bring.

Meanwhile, back in the House of Commons, the Leamside line was being discussed with the next update on this proposal likely to be made in the Integrated Rail Plan that is due to be published after the May elections.
