Funding allocated towards Golborne and more GM stations

At a meeting of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority today, funding was allocated towards a new railway station at Golborne plus the development work for further railway stations and Metrolink stops.

£15m will be allocated towards the station at Golborne, which will be located on the West Coast Mainline south of Wigan.

£2.5m will support the development of other proposed schemes that were identified as potential opportunities to progress.

The funding comes from tranche 2 of the Transforming Cities Fund.
