The Department for Transport has confirmed funding towards two rail projects.
£760m will reopen the railway line between Bicester and Bletchley with a new railway station at Winslow. By 2025, 2 trains per hour will run between Oxford and Milton Keynes via Bletchley.
£34m will enable the rapid progression of the railway line between Newcastle and Ashington. The investment will fund preparatory works, including land acquisition, detailed design work and early site works.
The third round of the Ideas fund was also announced.
