Report outlines progress on Bristol railway proposals

A report presented to the West of England Combined Authority Joint Committee has provided updates on proposals to enhance the rail network around Bristol. It has identified the timeline of projects to be delivered over the next 25 years.

The Portishead railway line is awaiting the approval of the Development Consent Order.

The upgrade of the Henbury freight line plus the delivery of stations at Ashley Down, North Filton and Henbury are expected to be delivered in the first five years. The former proposal (and Charfield) has been subject to a New Stations Fund bid to accelerate detailed design and construction.

In addition work emerging from the South West Bristol Infrastructure Investment Strategy may lead to the need for an additional station in the Ashton Gate area of Bristol. This will be kept under review.
