Talks held on Burton to Lichfield line

Talks have taken place over proposals to restore the railway lines between Lichfield and Burton, with the focus on the connectivity to Alrewas and the national memorial arboretum. Talks focused on delivering the project in stages. A single platform station would be delivered initially north east of the junction where the line singles, with the station location moving south west if the railway line was upgraded and electrified.

  1. Re-opening this line is a must. It will be very popular with those travelling daily to work in Sutton Coldfield/Birmingham and will appeal to college/school students given the ease of transition between centres of education. Restoration of this comparatively short link would also be a great boost for tourism with a significant emphasis on the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas being a catalyst for increased line usage.

I wish the campaign to restore this vital public transport link every success and I look forward to the day when I can use this line regularly to and from Burton to Lichfield
