A councillor has proposed a railway station at Oakley, west of Basingstoke at a meeting to discuss the strategic vision for the development of land nearby. The proposal would assist with alleviating congestion at junction 6 and 7 of the M3.
The former station was located on the West of England main line between Basingstoke and Andover. It was closed in July 1963 a few months after the Beeching Report was published.
