Two NSF3 bids confirmed for West Yorkshire stations

Two bids to the New Stations Fund 3 have been submitted by West Yorkshire for new railway stations at Thorpe Park and White Rose. The bid comes following analysis of proposals in West Yorkshire that dismissed bids for Elland because it was funded and Leeds-Bradford Airport Parkway because it is not yet at an appropriate estage of development.

More stations could be opened in West Yorkshire if the bids to the New Stations Fund 3 are successful. Pictured is Low Moor railway station, which opened in 2017

White Rose would be located on the Leeds-Huddersfield line south of Cottingley and Thorpe Park is located east of Crossgates on the Leeds-Selby/York line. The former proposal is controversial because of the potential impact on capacity and the potential closure of Cottingley.
