Nottingham City Council Executive Board are expected to progress number of extensions to the Nottingham tram system at their next meeting on 17 March 2020. Three potential extensions are being reviewed within Nottingham:
- Eastern route from the city centre towards Gedling serving new developments and the racecourse
- Southern extension from Clifton Park and Ride towards the Fairham Pastures development site
- Western extension from Toton P&R site to the HS2 station site and Long Eaton

The outcome should be an Outline Business Case that should be completed in Autumn 2021 and shared with government for review. Further work to review an extension towards Kimberley and Langley Mill will be supported technically and routes towards East Midlands Airport, Derby and Gamston are considered longer term projects.
