WECA approves MetroWest funding

West of England Combined Authority approved funding to support the development of business cases for rail projects on 14 June 2019

Following the completion of the Outline develop a Full Business Case, £3.519m was allocated to MetroWest phase 2, which includes restoring passenger services on the Henbury line and opening railway stations at Henbury, North Filton and Ashley Down.

Charfield Station – development funding application was submitted by South Gloucestershire Council in January 2019 to undertake development work for the delivery of a new rail station serving Charfield and surrounding towns and villages. The WECA Committee in February 2019 awarded an initial £300k to enable works to progress with a total of £1.2m now identified to complete a Full Business Case. WECA approved the release of the balance of the funding to support the delivery of the full business case.
