The Rother District Council Planning Committee has approved the restoration of the heritage railway between Northbridge Street (Robertsbridge) and Junction Road (Bodiam). Concerns have been raised with regards to the impact of the level crossings on the local road network.
this is just total madness. the A21 is bad enough as it is, even on a good day !
Blocking the road for a few fanatic anoraks to play trains is just not justified !
the cost to the economy – time and money wasted by all the road users including lorry operators etc. will be enormous, plus increased pollution levels caused by the delays and engines idling.
If these railway buffs really do want to complete this link then they will have to pay for a road bridge (with gradual slopes) over the tracks.
