Rotherham Parkway Rail Station update

The Sheffield City Region Transport Committee has received an update with regards to a proposed Rotherham Parkway railway station.

Further to the request from the Sheffield City Region in 2015, to investigate potential new station locations which will improve rail connectivity between Rotherham and major UK cities, partners have agreed a preferred station location. For the preferred station location, ARUP has progressed the business case development work during Q3 based on the data held within the national Rail Demand Forecasting Model – MOIRA (assesses the impact of timetable changes on the rail network). The outcome of this is to be presented in the New Year. The outline design for the preferred station location is also being developed to ensure the cost estimates are robust as part of the business case appraisal process. Confirmation that the proposed station would not be on the land immediately adjacent to Parkgate shopping, has allowed progression of the Aldwarke Link Road scheme.
