Low Moor Railway Station Update – April 2015

The Bradford District Consultation Sub-Committee is due to meet on 17th April 2015. The following update has been produced for Low Moor Rail Station.

2.10. The proposed new rail station is being developed in partnership with Network Rail, Northern Rail and the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council and will be located at Low Moor on the line between Bradford Interchange and Halifax rail stations.

2.11. Network Rail are currently progressing the detailed designs for the development which should be completed around July 2015, at which point building work could start on site (subject to acquiring the land needed for the new station).

2.12. As part of this design development work it has been agreed that new passenger lifts will be provided at the station and Network Rail are submitting an updated Planning Application to secure the necessary statutory permissions.

2.13. Network Rail has already undertaken some preliminary site works at Low Moor, including utilities searches and site clearance works. The start of the main construction works remain subject to successfully acquiring the land (necessary to build the station) from the current land owners and WYCA continues to work in partnership with the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council to secure the land needed for the development.

2.14. Significant progress has been made recently to secure commercial sale agreements with the two land owners and ‘offers’ to buy the land have been accepted, in principle and subject to contract.

2.15. The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council will undertake delivery of essential highway improvement works adjacent the new station site, and initial site investigation works have been completed in the area.
