Apperley Bridge Railway Station Update – April 2015

The Bradford District Consultation Sub-Committee is due to meet on 17th April 2015. The following update has been produced for Apperley Bridge Rail Station.

WYCA is working with Network Rail and Northern Rail on the construction of a new rail station at Apperley Bridge on the Airedale Line south of Shipley. Construction began in late 2014 of the 297 space park and ride site, along with a new access road and signalised junction on Apperley Lane. The two-platform station will be predominately served by electric trains along the Bradford Forster Square – Leeds route, and is due for completion in August 2015.

Apperley Bridge Updates

  1. Got an update from WYCA re proposed fares from Apperley Bridge for anyone interested……

Apperley Bridge will be in Zone three of the West Yorkshire rail map, so will be priced to reflect this (simlier to stations such as Shipley).

      1. No further updates unfortunately. The next updates are unlikely to be until early July when the next meeting of the Transport sub committees for Bradford and Leeds are due to meet. However, based on recent experience, the opening date, timetable and fares are unlikely to be announced until weeks before the station opens.

There are further photos of progress on this Flickr photostream that are just two weeks old.

        1. Have you heard anything on opening dates as yet? Due to open next month, how much notice would you normally expect from them?

  2. Update from yesterday’s combined authority meeting….

Apperley Bridge new rail station is due to open in September. The new access road and remaining part of the car park have been completed, both platforms are formed and new Overhead Electric Line (OLE) structures are in place. Work has also started on the stairs and ramps leading to the platforms. The May 2015 timetable between Leeds and Bradford Forster Square has been revised to allow for trains to stop at Apperley Bridge once the station is complete.

      1. Hi. Any updates that you can provide on the dailyfrequency of the trains from and to leeds from APB train station.thank you

        1. Hi

The timetable for Apperley Bridge has not been announced yet. Some have suggested one train per hour and others have suggested two trains per hour using the Leeds to Bradford services. I expect it to be the latter but there has not been any confirmation yet. It will be interesting to see what happens on evenings and Sundays.

  3. Was there any reason given why the original opening date of August has now been delayed to September? Do you think there could possibly be even further delays?
