Longannet closure could see Alloa to Dunfermline rail services

The closure of the Longannet Power Station could see trains serving Alloa extended along the existing freight only line to Dunfermline and potentially Edinburgh as a result of the track capacity freed up. A new railway station could be opened at Culross to improve access for tourists. Scottish Power have advised that the power station may close within a year.
