Government publishes National Infrastructure Plan 2014

The government has published the 2014 update to its National Infrastructure Plan. It presents an overview of the government’s policies, investments and record on infrastructure delivery since 2010. The document identifies that over 2,500 different projects or schemes have been delivered in this Parliament.

A number of projects have been reviewed as part of the update including the Dawlish Alternatives, Barking Riverside and Bathampton Park and Ride. In addition, the following were raised.

The East West Rail project received consideration with regards to the central section between Bedford and Cambridge.

East West Rail – the government will consider the outputs of the Network Rail study into the East West
Rail central section (Bedford to Cambridge) as part of the planning for Control Period 6 (2019-2024)

Chesterton Railway Station received confirmation of funding.

Chesterton Rail Station – as announced by the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister
the government will provide £44 million between 2014-15 and 2016-17 to build a new rail
station at Chesterton, linked to Cambridge Science Park
