New West Yorkshire Stations Update

The following updates have been published online as part of the Information Reports for the October Meetings of the Leeds and Bradford Districts Consultative Committees.

Leeds Rail Growth Package (Kirkstall Forge and Apperley Bridge)

2.68. Detailed designs for both Apperley Bridge and Kirkstall Forge are now approaching
completion, and Network Rail’s contractor is making preparations to start on
site. Work will start on site at Apperley Bridge in October 2014 and at Kirkstall Forge
in January 2015. These works will be preceded by CEG (the developer of the Kirkstall
Forge site) and Leeds City Council’s contractor starting on site in October for the
construction of the access road. Station opening is still planned for August
2015. Northern Rail has now commenced staff recruitment to operate the train
service and stations from this date.

Low Moor Station

2.29. The proposed new rail station is being delivered in partnership with Network Rail,
Northern Rail and City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council and will be located
on the line between Bradford Interchange and Halifax rail stations.

2.30. WYCA has recently entered into an Implementation Agreement with Network Rail to
deliver the new station. The Agreement covers design and construction work by
Network Rail up to, and including, opening the completed station. Tenders are now
being sought for the detailed design, development and construction of the new
station. The preferred contractor will be appointed later this year.

2.31. Legal agreements are also currently being concluded with the City of Bradford
Metropolitan District Council for delivery of the associated highway works. This
agreement covers the necessary road and junction improvements to New Works
Road and Cleckheaton Road and delivery of the associated Traffic Regulation Orders.

2.32. The procurement of the land required for the scheme is also progressing and ‘offers’
to buy the land have been accepted, in principle and subject to contract, by the
various land owners. The station opening is planned for the December 2015
timetable.
