The railway station at Kirkstall Forge is set to open in August 2015, with one train per hour in each direction. Commuting to Bradford will be made difficult because the Leeds bound train will originate from Ilkley. This is from the information report of the Leeds District Consultation Sub-Committee of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.
Apperley Bridge and Kirkstall Forge Rail Stations
2.44 On 28 May 2014, the Department for Transport announced that Major Schemes Full Approval had been granted for two new railway stations at Apperley Bridge and Kirkstall Forge. This is the final step in securing the funding necessary to deliver this scheme.
2.45 Network Rail continues to work on the detailed design for both stations, and at Kirkstall Forge this is being tied in closely with the design for the wider development of Commercial Estates Group (CEG). Initial works including the highway access to the new station will commence on site in September 2014, followed by the station construction itself.
2.46 The station is expected to be open in August 2015 and initially will be served by 1 train per hour in each direction; additional stops on the Leeds – Bradford Forster Square service (westbound) and the Ilkley – Leeds service (eastbound). The station will include a new footbridge and lifts, and a 127 space car park.
