Proposed Railway Stations at Winchburgh and Robsroyston have been added as priced options in the Invitation to Tender for the new Scotrail franchise. Both railway stations are being delivered as part of substantial housing developments.
Winchburgh Railway Station would be located between Edinburgh and Falkirk High between Winchburgh Tunnel and Winchburgh Junction to support a residential development in that area. The ITT makes it clear that any stops at this station must not be inserted in services between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street, which means that only services to Dunblane and Alloa would be stopping here.
Robroyston Railway Station would be located on the Glasgow Queen Street to Falkirk Grahamston line. The ITT requests that if the station is delivered before December 2017, the station should be served by a DMU operating hourly. Post December 2017, the station would be served by an extra hourly train composed of an EMU running from Glasgow Queen Street to Cumbernauld. The existing DMU service would be replaced by an EMU from the December 2017 timetable.
The submission of ITT responses from the bidders are due this month, with the winning bidder announced in October. The Franchise will commence at the beginning of April 2015.
