Chancellor to support Barking Riverside link

The Chancellor, George Osborne, is expected to signal support for the £150 million Barking Riverside rail link in his Budget Speech tomorrow. The link will extend the Barking to Gospel Oak Railway Line (GOBLIN) to a large development in East London.

If the scheme passes further treasury tests and further talks are successful, it is expected that the funding will be confirmed in the Autumn statement.

Barking Riverside is expected to be a development that contains up to 11,000 homes but only 1,000 have been delivered so far.
