London Mayor steps up pressure for Barking Riverside funding

London Mayor,  Boris Johnson has stepped up pressure on the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne to deliver funding towards an extension of the London Overground to the Barking Riverside development. They are looking for £100m of funding.

If the improved transport links are not developed, only 1,200 of the potential 10,800 homes will be able to be delivered on the development due to planning restrictions.

The proposal is to extend the London Overground line from Barking to the new development.
