Low Moor

Low Moor railway station update – January 2017

Construction of the new railway station in Low Moor is advancing well and work continues to progress on the new platforms and car park areas.

Issues in connection with the discovery of previously unrecorded mine workings, on the northern side of the new station development, have been resolved with the successful filling and capping of two mine shafts.

Resolving the mineshaft issues has allowed work to progress on the remainder of the major infrastructure items, including the installation of the new passenger lifts and positioning of the main footbridge spanning the track.

This latest progress means that the station remains on target for opening by May 2017. The final highway surfacing works and the introduction of the proposed new Traffic Regulation Orders will be carried out just prior to the new station opening.

Low Moor railway station update – October 2016

Construction of the new rail station in Low Moor is advancing well, and work continues to progress on the new platforms and car park areas. Installation of the new passenger lifts and footbridge have commenced and the majority of the necessary track adjustments have been completed. Most of the essential highway improvements have also been completed, including the construction of the main entrance to the new station car park and forming the new residents parking bay in New Works Road. New Traffic Regulation Orders will also be implemented nearer completion of the scheme, providing new traffic priority measures in New Works Road and the junction with Cleckheaton Road.

Previously unrecorded mine workings, discovered on the northern side of the new station development are currently being treated. This requires substantial engineering works including the filling and capping of two previously unidentified shafts. The capping of these shafts is almost complete and, when finished, will allow the remainder of the station platforms and lift shaft/footbridge to be completed. This has impacted on the delivery programme and, subject to no further issues being encountered, the station will be opened in May 2017.
