Three railway stations have been proposed for Leeds Bradford Airport, Thorpe Park and the White Rose shopping centre as part of transport investment allocated to the city.
Rail has proven to be a successful contributor towards the uptake of low carbon travel options with Apperley Bridge car park filling up and Low Moor expected to open in July.
Bradford councillors are going to continue fighting for a direct rail link to Leeds Bradford Airport following the publication of a report into direct rail links serving the airport noting that the line would be too steep.
A conventional rail link would be impossible to achieve because the gradient to access the airport would be too steep for conventional trains. A tram train link could be created and that would be expected to cost up tom £360m.
Leeds Bradford Airport has revealed a strategic development plan for the next 15 years. The plan includes a desire to provide a rail link to the airport.
