Four proposed railway stations are being investigated as part of a pipeline of work by West Midlands Combined Authority. Darlaston, Willenhall, Aldridge and Portobello have all been reported.
Transport for West Midlands in conjunction with Walsall Council has put a in bid for funding from round 2 of the New Stations Fund for a proposed railway station at Willenhall.
The new council leader for Walsall council is pushing plans to restore the railway service between Walsall and Wolverhampton. The Black Country LEP is proposing a funding plan for £29m, which will lead to new railway stations at Willenhall and James Bridge at Darlaston.
A number of attendees to a consultation event in the West Midlands have called for the restoration of the rail link between Walsall and Wolverhampton. Residents have called for Willenhall, Portobello and Aldridge to reopen. The restoration of the line was set back after a tram extension proposal did not receive support last year.
