An MSP has urged Lothian council and SEStrans to move quickly to introduce passenger services on the South Suburban line following a meeting with the Scottish Transport Minister. The line is expected to accomodate more freight services folllwing upgrade works, which would make any plans to introduce passenger services more difficult.
Tram Trains are a real practical solution for the rail network according to the head of the ScotRail Alliance, Phil Verster. They have been put forward as an option for the Edinburgh South Suburban railway line.
Tram Trains could be the solution to capacity issues into Edinburgh Waverley for passenger services operating on the Edinburgh South Suburban line according to an MSP.
It would include railway stations at Gorgie, Craiglockhart, Morningside, Blackford or Newington, Cameron Toll, Craigmillar, Niddrie and Kinnaird Park.
