The 0743 Oxford to London Marylebone service was the first service to operate the full route from Oxford to London via Bicester this morning as part of a soft launch. This follows the closure of the railway line between Bicester North and Oxford for a substantial rail upgrade. The route partially reopened last December to Oxford Parkway.
Contractors will be working 24 hours per day to complete the work required to facilitate trains running from Oxford to London Marylebone. Train services are expected to commemce from 12th December.
Councillors have rejected Network Rail’s request to withdraw the use of silent track on the Oxford to Oxford Parkway rail link. Residents have accused Network Rail of reneging on their promises, whilst Network Rail have advised that the use of silent track is not cost effective. Network RIl have advised that this won’t affect the planned opening date of 12th December because silent track can be retrofitted.
Network Rail are continuing to work on the railway line linking Oxford to Oxford Parkway in preparation for the opening in December.
