Ilkeston is expected to open on 2nd April 2017. The station is expected to have 160,000 passengers in its first year of operation with numbers expected to pass half a million.
A local organisation has filmed the railway station at Ilkeston from the air using a drone. The video shows the railway station that is due to be opened on 2 April.

Following challenging ground conditions encountered during construction, sufficient progress has now been made that the opening date for the proposed railway station at Ilkeston is expected to be announced soon.
Work has begun to remove the footbridge currently in place at the Ilkeston railway station site. The station is expected to open later this year.

Weekend road closures throughout the summer have been arranged to remove a footbridge near to Coronation Road. It will be replaced by a footbridge that will link the two platforms of the new station.
The next phase of work to construct the railway station serving Ilkeston is set to begin next week. Screw piling will commence overnight to construct the foundations for the platform.

An artist impression of how Ilkeston railway station will look like when it has been completed has appeared on fencing around the site.
Construction work is set to begin on Ilkeston railway station following the completion of works to stabilise mining works on the site. If works progress as scheduled, the railway station is set to be completed in late autumn 2016.
