Reopening of the railway line serving Ripon has been included in long term transport plans submitted by NYCC to Transport for the North. The proposal is to reopen the line between Harrogate and Northallerton with benefits also offered to the strategic resilience of the railway network.
The overhead lines on the first phase of the Manchester second city crossing have gone live, marking the start of testing before the line opens in the next few months.
The Mounstorrel Railway has transported hundreds of passengers during its opening weekend after local volunteers spent eight years restoring it. The line is a branch of the Great Central Railway and is expected to open fully around Easter 2016.
